Practicing mantram repetition is a discipline that can have a profound impact on one's spiritual journey. It is a beautiful gateway in which one can enter the center of their consciousness and become rooted in the present moment. It has been practiced throughout all of the world's major religions.
I have been practicing mantram repetition for a few months now and the more I practice this discipline the more frequently my mantram springs up in my awareness during my day. I have found that repeating my mantram inwardly during moments when I feel I am beginning to become groundless helps to anchor me and allows empathy and compassion to arise when normally that might not be my first instinct in a given situation.

Not too long ago I wrote a post on mantram repetition. If you'd like to read it you can go here:

Since my mantram has had a profound impact on just about every area of my life I felt inspired to make a video featuring it. I hope you enjoy it! It's my first video I've made for my blog. I think I will be making more videos in the future that will hopefully inspire and inform.
If you have a mantra/mantram please share it in the comments section! If you've found a video of your mantram you enjoy feel free to share the link to it as well. Thank you!
Great start Jessica! I love that voice - it's so peaceful..

Thank you for stopping by and I'm glad you enjoyed it. I love Krishna Das!He does a beautiful version. :)
DeleteI have noticed it just today, it's like the sound of a gong. It resonates and reverberates til it reaches the core of my being.
ReplyDeleteI also noticed that it took about 10 minutes or more...enough time to truly enter the rhythm :)
Congratulations on your video. I'll go to YouTube now and subscribe :)
Hi, Jessica! ~
ReplyDeleteYou took the video creation in an unexpected direction, right? No camera required. Very interesting...
I never heard the word 'mantram' before so I looked up the difference between that and 'mantra' and found this: "There is a slight difference between the words mantra and mantram. Both are taken from a Sanskrit word meaning instrument of thought. The difference is this: a mantram is a vocalized instrument of thought, while a mantra is silent." http://www.mindpowernews.com/MantramMindMagic.htm
I suppose I use both, since I speak it silently and out loud. Most commonly I use, "I love everyone and everything in every situation" or "One" (as in, "I am one with God")
I plan on trying different kinds of videos in the future...We'll see where things take me! I was inspired by my mantram so I figured I'd start with this.
DeleteI say it both outloud and inwardly. Funny that you note the difference because the source that I've been using to find out about mantram repetition and a type of meditation called passage meditation notes that the mantram should be said inwardly. I know the term "mantram" not "mantra" is used in the Upanishads and other Hindu sacred texts...so maybe that's also why some use that term. I'm not sure..
Thanks for stopping by. :)
I agree... so peaceful! Thank you for sharing!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by. :)
DeleteAwwwww I am not into mantrams..just not my thing...but I do appreciate it helping in your journey...I do thank you for sharing...As always...XOXOXOXOXO
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by Bonnie. The practice of the meditation of a mantram definitely takes some time in getting used to. Perhaps it's not for everybody..There's so many great and diverse ways to center oneself...Whether it's by repeating a mantram, concentrating on breath, or any other number of ways. :)
